N.V. Rosé Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin -
Champagne, France
160.00
Toast and cream on the nose with a touch of cherry. Medium bodied palate with
more cherry as it came across as a little tart, with creamy oak and a medium finish
that left the mouth clean.
2002
Dom Perignon Moët et Chandon -
Champagne, France
280.00
Nutty, dark caramel, green apple and pumpernickel bread. A dark yeasty quality.
Palate is really nice. Long finish with great balance and acidity.
2002
Cuvee Cristal Louis Roederer -
Champagne, France
422.00
In 1876 Tsar Alexander II of Russia, fearing that a bomb hidden behind the
conventional green glass of a Champagne bottle might be used to assassinate
him, ordered Champagne to be produced in a clear glass bottle and without
the traditional bell-shaped base. In order to ensure that this bottle shape was
able to cope with the pressure, it had to be manufactured from lead crystal, and
hence became known as Cristal. The wine itself is full-bodied and powerful but
balanced, fully deserving of its stellar reputation.
N.V. Armand de Brignac ‘Brut’ Gold -
Cattier, Champagne, France
890.00
Pale lemony colour. Smooth peach nose with pear and floral notes. Complex with
mineral smokiness, restraint, honey and spicy finesse. Creamy, foamy palate with
good freshness and tropical fruit. Linear with compact fruit and wonderful length.
1998
Dom Perignon Rosé Moët et Chandon -
Champagne, France
1164.00
Light amber-pink in colour with a seamless combination of red berried fruit,
brioche, cream and marzipan notes with a surprising saline element coming out
on the back end. The mouthfeel here is just as striking as the flavours themselves
-
it’s very polished and glossy with a real lightness of touch and fantastic balance.
